Sinopse:Gurren Lagann têm sua história contada em um futuro distante e fictício onde seres humanos vivem isoladamente no subterrâneo, a maioria não sabe por que vivem lá, apenas seguem os conselhos de seus antepassados de que a supercifície é um lugar perigoso. Devido a constantes terremotos que abalam as estruturas das vilas subterrâneas, são obrigados a cada vez mais expandir para o fundo da terra - Serviço designado para os conhecidos como “escavadores”.Vila Jeeha é a casa de Simon, um escavador de quatorze anos, ficou órfão quando seus pais morreram em um terremoto. Ele é respeitado pelo líder da vila como o melhor escavador, mas é mal-visto por quase todos da vila. Em um dia comum de escavação, Simon encontra uma chave em forma de espiral, logo em seguida, um excentrico órfão e amigo de Simon chamado Kamina o recruta para seu grupo, a “Brigada Gurran”.
